Add What is the lowest temperature at which Tough-Tags will perform?
Tough-Tags will work at -40°C, provided you are using microcentrifuge tubes made of 100% pure virgin polypropylene. They will work at -20°C regardless of the kind of tube they are on. For anything below -80°C, we suggest Cryo-Babies and Cryo-Tags.
Will Tough-Tags fall off during certain procedures?
If tubes labeled with Tough-Tags are placed into a boiling water bath immediately after being removed from cryogenic storage (-80°C), the drastic temperature change will shock the material and labels may fall off. We recommend that the labels be allowed to thaw at room temperature before being placed into a boiling water bath.
Do you recommend any microtubes in particular for Tough-Tags?
Tough-Tags will adhere to any container, but they perform best with tubes made of 100% pure virgin polypropylene. Also, it is important that they be applied to tubes that are completely dry. If there is any moisture on the tube, the Tough-Tags may peel or fall off.
